The Paschal Mystery: the power of the Resurrection

The Resurrection of our Lord means victory, hope, joy, optimism. This is the victory that overcomes the world: our faith (1 Jn 5:4). New life, in the Holy Spirit, as the fruit of the Resurrection.

Questions for personal examination:

1. Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you" (Jn 20:19-20). Do I face each day's challenges without losing my peace? What am I doing to create an atmosphere of serenity around me: with my spouse, my children, my colleagues and so on?

2. Whatever is born of God overcomes the world (1 Jn 5:4). What is my attitude when I contemplate the challenges society presents? Is Jesus the constant reference point in my commitment to transform the world?

3. A good sportsman doesn't fight to gain just one victory, and that at the first attempt... He keeps trying again and again, and if he doesn't succeed at the first attempt, he keeps on trying with determination until the obstacle is overcome (The Forge, 169). Do I go to the sacraments to increase my desire to continue walking with the Lord, with the assurance that he is helping me every day, time and time again?

4. Christ's Resurrection introduces us into a new life. What can I do so that this new life brings joy and optimism to my family when difficulties arise?

5. Hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us (Rom 5:5). Are there projects in my family, professional and social life that can I entrust more to the Holy Spirit, so that he can bring them to fruition?

6. While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them (Lk 24:15-16). Do I share my life with Christ as I walk? Do I ask the Holy Spirit to help me make my practices of piety an encounter with the living Jesus?

7. He went in to stay with them. When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed, and broke it, and gave it to them. And their eyes were opened and they recognized him (Lk 24:29-31). Do I manage not to lose my amazement at the gift of the Eucharist? Do I try to share this great gift with my family?
